Week 12 (14/11/2016 – 20/11/2016) – Toast
Mark and I have been following the LCHF (low-carb, high-fat) lifestyle for about two and a half years. While he’s found it easy to forget about his favourite high-carb foods, I still struggle to this day.
I miss rice the most (as an Asian, it’s encoded in my DNA to love rice), but bread is a close second. Bread and I have had a lot of great times together. I loved all kinds of bread – sweet, savoury, stuffed, dense, light, fluffy, buttery, crusty… you name it, I’ve probably tried it. I was feeling particularly nostalgic about bread last week, hence the theme.
Food illustrations are fun, albeit a tad tedious depending on the contents of the image. The rye bread was difficult to get some good texture on, but still remain cartoonish, which is how I wanted this to end up. I wasn’t going for a realistic illustration, but still wanted to make sure that it looked like bread and not just a big brown lump.
Excuse me while I go daydream about bread now…
